Flexe asked us to document how one of the largest retailers in the world stood up a hundred-thousand-square-foot ecommerce fulfillment site in three weeks, at the peak of the pandemic. We interviewed DeFili Solutions, the family-run 3PL that made it happen, and shot the floor while it processed thousands of orders a day.

A Hundred Thousand Square Feet in Three Weeks
The story was a setup that should not have been possible. A standard new-customer onboarding runs three months. They bid on this one in May and were shipping orders in June.
What made it work was the absence of automation. High-volume sortable ecommerce is normally handled out of a fully automated building — conveyance, tilt-tray sorters, put walls. None of that existed here. DeFili ran it on Flexe software instead, with dashboards tracking customer SLAs, order status, ship dates and hourly output, which let them plan the next day’s labor. Temps were processing orders within a day of walking in. Flexe also sent a team on site to train and monitor the ramp.
